Position purpose/Key result area expectations
The role is primarily accountable for the delivery of significant commercial/SME new business growth through well developed understanding of the key business drivers, understanding the needs of commercial/SME customers and strong change leadership to embedded a pro-active sales culture that will deliver on the growth objectives as required under the bank’s business plans.
Focus of this role will be on the development of SME lending and Funding. While commercial and wholesale lending are important, the bank will be very selective on acquisition of such business, concentrating on companies or organizations that have good credit rating and would like to do business with us because what we are or they have good relationship with our people.
The incumbent therefore has to display a strong performance track record in the development of SME lending and Funding in the Indonesian market inclusive of product development, distribution and after sales service. Proven ability to attract customers through good networking and relationships and success history in an organization that has implemented superior product, distribution and customer service initiatives in this area will be highly rated.
Knowledge of the industry and what our competitors are doing in these regards are also important. We learn from our competitors, at same time however, we are to be pro active on our own to be ahead of the competitors. Ability to recruit good regional managers and relationship managers are added advantage and would mean that the incumbent should have the network within the industry to be able to access promising and potential candidates that can join the bank.
The role will have a strong customer focus with experience in interacting with customers at all levels to understand their needs. The incumbent has to be an advocate of customer service internal and external.
The job holder will be responsible for planning, development and management of the SME areas of the bank. The business plans new business growth targets will be set by the Head of Commercial Banking in consultation with the CEO and fellow Directors. Setting high but achievable target for new business for the regional managers will be important and working with them in the recruitment, development of front liners to be effective sales people will be crucial.
The bank is a foreign bank and has a risk management framework that involves Head office oversight and approval in the event that deal values fall within such category. Ongoing dialogue with head office will be necessary. Ability to properly present loan proposals backed by sound judgments that are well articulated in writing is essential.
This is a senior executive position within the company and is expected to operate with very minimum supervision.
HEAD OF SME BANKING
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, development and management of SME banking functions.
Deliver new business and lending book targets as required under the bank business plans and KPIs
Work with regional managers in setting new business and lending book targets for each region for the year base on company growth plans, cascade down to regional managers, branch managers and relationship managers.
Work with the director in the setting of the individual manager’s performance bonus incentive plans.
Ensure credit quality is maintained and that reviews are current at all times.
Ensure compliance with credit policies and regulations.
Responsible for the product development, marketing and business development opportunities.
Responsibility over training and development of people and team building activities within the division.
Contribute and participate with senior management within the division and Head of commercial banking in the proposing of strategic direction and tactical annual plans of the business.
Responsible for the promotion of the bank vision and values within the division.
Any other duties delegated by the Director.
Competencies
A graduate in business or related discipline with at least 10 years experience in banking or financial services.
Proven record in building and developing SME funding and lending business
Sound knowledge of SME lending products and branch distribution structure operated by competitors.
Knowledge of what a sound risk management structure should be like with full acknowledgement of segregation of duties principle between sales and credit approval
Knowledge of credit policies and their applications.
Experience in dealing with credit management policies that involve offshore head office oversight.
Banking experience including retail banking, commercial dealing, international trade products, electronic banking service along with general business operations management and management of P&L
Strong leadership and change management skills
Strong customer management and communication skills.
Strategy development experience and ability to identify target market develop products and services and evaluate business opportunities.
Demonstrated marketing and business development skills
Proven ability to drive change and to deliver results.
